DAY 1 - NAIROBI / ABERDARE NATIONAL PARK
Upon your arrival in Nairobi this morning, you will be met by your guide and depart by road to the Aberdares National Park. This scenic drive takes about 3 hours, winding through coffee plantations and small farms. When you arrive at the Outspan Hotel, you will transfer to special vehicles for the 10 mile drive to The Ark, where you will be met by a ranger who spells out the common sense rules of behavior before he walks you to the lodge for your overnight stay.

The Ark sits within the Aberdare National Park, which is part of the Aberdare Mountain Range, a fascinating region of Kenya. According to traditional Kikuyu folklore they are one of the homes of Ngai (God). The lodge overlooks a floodlit waterhole and salt lick which attracts a host of awesome wildlife such as elephant, rhino, leopard, bushbuck and occasionally an elusive bongo or giant forest hog and many other species. At the Ark, the animals come you instead of the other way around. Enjoy dinner at the lodge and wildlife viewing from your room or the viewing deck. And, while you sleep if anything exciting happens you’ll be awakened to see what’s happening.
Overnight - The Ark ( L,D & activities)

DAY 2 - SAMBURU NATIONAL RESERVE
This morning after breakfast you and your guide will depart for the Samburu National Reserve, located in Kenya's arid northern desert country. Samburu is home to the Samburu tribe and many species of wildlife not found in other parts of East Africa. Grevy's zebra, Reticulated giraffe, Beisa oryx, long necked gerenuk along with cheetah, elephant, monkeys and numerous birds are just a few of the species Samburu is famous for. The Uaso Nyiro river flows through the park providing a lush oasis where elephants and other wildlife come to drink.

Samburu Lodge has 60 rooms, most of which overlook the river. In the evenings a number of crocodiles climb up the river bank to the edge of the crocodile bar and feast on food left out for them. On a good night guests may also see the secretive, solitary and nocturnal leopard silently arrive to the fresh meat bait put out on a tree across the river. Samburu dancing takes place in the lodge arena daily from 2.30pm to 3.00pm.

In the afternoon take a game drive to see the Beisa oryx, Grevy's zebra, reticulated giraffe, gerenuk and blue legged ostrich - animals unique to this region. The attractive pool with a quaint bridge across it is the perfect place to relax after a hot day in the bush. Overnight - Shaba Lodge (all meals & activities)

DAY 3 - SAMBURU NATIONAL RESERVE
Enjoy a full days activities in the reserve, going on early morning and afternoon wildlife drives. Overnight - Shaba Lodge (all meals & activities)

DAY 4 - SAMBURU / LAKE NAKURU
After breakfast you and your guide will depart of Lake Nakuru, stopping at Nyahururu Falls, arriving at the Lion Hill Sarova Lodge in time for lunch, then departing on an afternoon game drive. Lake Nakuru National Park was created 30 years ago originally as a bird sanctuary and covers an area of 200 square kilometers. The park is famous for its bird life, particularly flamingos. The lake is one of the Rift Valley’s soda lakes and the flamingos are attracted by a microscopic algae called Spirulina which live in the lake and it is this which is responsible for the Flamingos pink hue. The lake is fringed on all sides by shady Acacia forest and the National Park features a wide range of animals particularly Waterbuck, Warthog, Impala, Rothschild Giraffe, Lion and Leopard. It is also rhino sanctuary and there is therefore a good chance of coming across black and white rhino species.

Set on a plateau in the Rift Valley, overlooking one of the world's greatest ornithological spectacles, Lake Nakuru, stands Sarova Lion Hill Lodge. There are 65 rooms to select from to suit your needs, all which come with an attached bathroom and have running water and electricity. All bedrooms have verandahs with panoramic views of the flamingo pink-rimmed lake. The Flamingo Restaurant serves meals on the ground floor; a patio is available at the pool. A buffet is served for lunch. Dinner table d'hote with a seating capacity of 200 people. Rift Valley Bar on the ground floor overlooks the lake, and is open early till late. Overnight - Lion Hill Sarova Lodge (all meals & activities)

DAYS 5/6 - MAASAI MARA NATIONAL RESERVE
This morning after an early breakfast you will depart across the Great Rift Valley down to the Maasai Mara. The Mara is actually the northern portion of the great plains ecosystem that in neighboring Tanzania is called the Serengeti and has the largest concentration of large animals in Africa. It is also home to the “big five” - lion, leopard, buffalo, rhino and elephant, as well as cheetah, zebra, giraffe and vast herds of plains antelope and numerous other wildlife. Enjoy morning and afternoon wildlife viewing activities in the Maasai Mara.

After checking into your lodge and enjoying lunch depart on an afternoon game drive. On the next day enjoy a full days of activities in the Maasai Mara. Your stay here will be at the Mara Sarova Camp. The Camp is set in the African bush in luxurious tents that all have permanent roofs, zip-up fronts, electricity and ensuite facilities.
