ENJOY TWO NIGHTS AT SOSSUSVLEI MOUNTAIN LODGE IN AN EXQUISITE DESERT VILLA AND EXPLORE THE DESERT ON QUADBIKES, OPEN 4X4 SAFARI VEHICLES OR ON GUIDED NATURE WALKS.
 
DAY 1 - WINDHOEK  
After you arrive in Windhoek today you will be met and transferred to the Hotel Heinitzburg – a classic elegant hotel built in a castle overlooking the bay.

DAY 2 - DESERT EXPRESS  
Spend your morning at leisure before being met and driven to the train station where you will board the “Desert Express”, Namibia’s award winning luxury train. The train heads north until it reaches the Otjihavera Siding in the later afternoon. Here you will be taken to the luxurious Okapuka Game Ranch to experience the excitement of watching lions being fed only yards away. When you're back on board, Desert Express continues its westward journey. Enjoy the sunset over the open vastness of Namibia in the Spitzkoppe Lounge or through the large windows of your compartment. In the Welwitschia Restaurant, a sumptuous three-course dinner awaits you this evening. Overnight - Desert Express (B&B Basis)

DAYS 3/4 - SWAKOPMUND  
Today the train departs from Krazenburg and you continue westward into the desert and behind the dunes between Swakopmund and Walvis Bay. Here, there's a one-hour stop to allow passengers to disembark and take a walk to the dunes of the Namib. This morning you will arrive in Swakopmund around 10:00 where you will be met and transferred to the Swakopmund Hotel. The next 2 days are on your own to explore the area around Walvis Bay. Optional boat cruises and tours can be arranged.

The Swakopmund Hotel is built in and around the old station building, which has been immaculately restored to its former glory. The 90 bedrooms are built around a courtyard with palm trees, fountains and outdoor swimming pool. Each room has a mini bar, air conditioning, television, tea/coffee facilities and telephone. The Victorian style Platform One Restaurant offers an a la carte menu and specialty buffet. The fully equipped casino and extensive Entertainment Center incorporates a cinema, a video arcade and specialty shopping. The Captain’s Tavern restaurant specializes in seafood. DAYS 5/6 - SOSSUSVLEI  
Today you will be met and transferd from Swakopmund Hotel to Swakopmund Airport for light aircraft flight to Sossusvlei Mountain Lodge. The surrounding area lends itself to numerous activities which include scenic drives by four-wheel drive vehicle on the NamibRand Nature Reserve where you encounter a variety of desert animals such as gemsbok, zebra, springbok, bat-eared fox, aardwolf, caracal and jackal. An excursion to the highest dunes in the world at nearby Sossusvlei will thrill both the keen and amateur photographer. Experience the dunes by All Terrain Vehicles with an experienced guide, who takes one along set paths so as not to damage the fragile ecology. Guided nature walks and hiking trails provide an insight to the scenic and ecological aspects of the environment with its wide diversity of desert-adapted flora and fauna. At the end of the day the stars, which light up the desert sky, are brought to life through the lodge’s high-powered computerised telescope, giving a close-up view of the galaxy.

Your stay here will be at Sossusvlei Mountain Lodge, a 5 star luxury lodge is situated in the heart of the Namib Desert in the NamibRand Nature Reserve. This pristine reserve, is one of the largest in Africa at 180,000 hectares and shares a 70 mile boarder with the Namib-Naukluft Park. Only twenty guests are accommodated in ten twin bedded suites, built into natural rock at the foot of a mountain. The suites are extremely spacious and consist of a raised bedroom with steps leading down to a lounge. Sliding doors from the lounge lead onto a covered patio to the side of the suite and an open patio to the front. The glass encased en-suite bathroom has an inside and outside shower, his and her vanity unit and toilet. The main lodge has a lounge, dining room, cocktail bar and nature reference library. Other facilities include expansive verandas, an upstairs viewing deck and plunge pool. And proudly, Sossusvlei has the second most power electronic telescope in Namibia. DAY 7 -  
Spend your morning at leisure before departing just before lunch in a light aircraft back to Windhoek’s Eros Aiport. From here you will transfer to you next flight or spend the night in town.
