MT. KILIMANJARO
 
  CLIMB TO THE TOP OF AFRICA UNDER MOONLIGHT! CONSIDERED BY MANY TO BE THE MOST BEAUTIFUL AND SCENIC CLIMB, YOU PASS THROUGH TROPICAL MONTANE RAIN FOREST TO THE SNOWS OF KILIMANJARO. YOUR GROUP WILL BE CLIMBING WITH OUR EXCELLENT GUIDES AND ASSISTANT GUIDE, COOK, AND PORTERS. ACCOMMODATION IS IN MOUNTAIN TENTS THROUGHOUT PITCHED AT SITES BY THE HUTS. ALL CAMPING EQUIPMENT NECESSARY IS PROVIDED.
 
DAY 1 - ARUSHA TANZANIA  
Upon arrival into Kilimanjaro International Airport in Tanzania this evening, or this morning into Nairobi Kenya you will be met and transferred to the Moivaro Coffee Plantation Lodge near Arusha Tanzania. This newly opened lodge is set in the grounds of a large coffee estate and has spectacular views of Mt. Meru. The afternoon will be spent with your mountain guide preparing for the climb with a briefing and supervised packing. Enjoy a late dinner with your group.
Overnight - Moivaro Coffee Plantation Lodge (Dinner only)

DAY 2 - MT. KILIMANJARO – 9,843 FT (3,000 M)  
This morning you transfer to Machame Gate to begin the climb. Climb to Machame Hut, walking along a gentle climb through forest then up to the overnight stop on the edge of the forest. Overnight - Camping by Machame Hut. (all meals & activities)

DAY 3 - MT. KILIMANJARO – 12,600 FT (3,840 M)  
Rising early, you cross a valley and a stream and then climb up a steep ridge for 3-4 hours. The path then drops into the river gorge before we climb more gently onto the moorland of the Shira Plateau, one of the most fascinating areas of the Mountain. Overnight - Camping by the Shira Hut. (all meals & activities)

DAY 4 - MT. KILIMANJARO – 12,960 FT (3,950 M)  
Today you will walk for 5-6 hours, enjoying sightings of the typical Kilimanjaro mountain vegetation (Senecios, Lobelia, Helichrysum) and rewarding views of the spectacular Barranco Valley. Overnight - Camping by the Barranco Hut (all meals & activities)

DAY 5 - . KILIMANJARO – 15,090 FT (4,600 M)  
From the Barranco Hut, you walk across screes and ridges to Karanga (4,100m) with breathtaking views of the West Breach and the southern glacier. About 2 hours from Karanga you will come out on the Barafu path (part of the Mweka Trail). It is a further 1-1½ hours to Barafu Hut where you stay overnight in Mountain tents. Overnight - Camping by the Bafafu Hut (all meals & activities)

DAY 6 - SUMMIT (19,340 FT 5,895M)  
You rise early in the morning and begin the climb to the summit by the light of the full moon. On route you will pass through the gap between the Ratzel and Rebmann glaciers and continue to Uhuru peak (5,896 m) where we can watch the sunrise from the rooftop of Africa! We then descend to Mweka Hut via the Mweka Route for our overnight stay in Mountain tents. Overnight - Camping by Mweka Hut (all meals & activities)

DAY 7 - MT. KILIMANJARO / ARUSHA  
Descending to the Mweka Gate, we then continue by vehicle to the Moivaro Coffee Plantation Lodge. There is time to relax, take a hot shower or a swim in the pool before a final dinner with the other members of our group to celebrate the achievement of conquering Mount Kilimanjaro. Overnight - Moivaro Coffee Plantation Lodge (all meals & activities)

DAY 8 - ARUSHA  
Today after breakfast you will continue on your journey or be transferred to Kilimanjaro International Airport for your outgoing flight.
