MOSE OA TUNYA
KAFUE

RELAX IN LUXURY ON THE BANKS OF THE ZAMBEZI RIVER, JUST A SHORT WAYS FROM THE THUNDEROUS VICTORIA FALLS BEFORE SPENDING SEVERAL DAYS WILDLIFE VIEWING IN THE REMOTE AND BEAUTIFUL KAFUE NATIONAL PARK.

DAY 1 - LIVINGSTONE / MOSE OA TUNYA – VICTORIA FALLS
You will be met off your flight into Livingstone, Zambia and driven to the nearby Sussi Lodge, situated on the northern edge of the Mosi Oa Tunya National Park. This small parks name comes from the people who have lived here for eons and means “Smoke Which Thunders”, as it is situated next to the mighty Victoria Falls. This is one of the few places you can see the rare white Rhino. You may also see Giraffe, Buffalo, Zebra, Sable, Eland, Wildebeest and migrating Elephants, often wallowing in shallow pools near the banks of the Zambezi River.

Sussi Lodge is a luxury lodge set on a sweeping bend of the Zambezi River, just 10 minutes upstream from the falls themselves. Guest accommodations consist of 10 luxury tree-houses, built into the living canopy of giant ebony trees lining the bank. Each unit has a private view of the Zambezi from its own deck set among the branches. The main lodge building features a raised bar and lounge deck, open air dining area, swimming pool and lawns sweeping down to the water’s edge where resident wildlife, such as hippopotamus and elephant often wander through on their way in and out of the park.

After lunch, you may depart on an afternoon game drive in the park, go for a swim, even try your hand at fishing, or relax on your deck watching the river with a cool drink. Dinner is served in the dining area or under the stars next to the bonfire.
Overnight - Sussi Lodge (lunch & dinner, game drive)

DAY 2 - MOSE OA TUNYA – VICTORIA FALLS
This morning after breakfast you will depart on an early morning game drive into the Park, returning for lunch. After lunch it’s time to go visit the falls with your guide accompanying you. After your visit to the falls you will be driven to the dock to board your boat for a sunset cruise up the Zambezi. After the cruise you will be met and returned back to the lodge for dinner under the stars. Overnight - Sussi Lodge (all meals & activities)

DAY 3 - LIVINGSTONE / KAFUE NATIONAL PARK
This morning after breakfast you will be met and driven to the airport where you will board your light aircraft flight to the remote Kafue National Park. Kafue is Zambia’s oldest park and by far the largest. It was created in 1950 and is spread over 13,920 square miles (22,400 km) - the second largest national park in the world. Despite the Park’s proximity to both Lusaka and the Copperbelt, it has remained underdeveloped until the most recent years and provides and diverse slice of African wilderness with excellent game viewing, bird watching and fishing opportunities.

When you arrive at the airstrip you will board a helicopter and be flown to the Lunga River Lodge - situated on the west bank of the magnificent Lunga River in the north-eastern region of the park. The Lunga River is one of the three main tributaries into the Busanga Plains, an area in the extreme north of the Park, and one of the last truly wild places in the world.

Lunga River Lodge has six spacious thatched rooms with private decks that overlook the river, ensuring breathtaking views and en suite shower and bathroom. There is a bar with sundeck that is suspended over the river, a dining room and deck, reading room and plunge pool. A maximum of 12 guests can be accommodated at any one time and great emphasis has been placed on the "guided" experience - being led by qualified, enthusiastic people with in-depth knowledge of the area and its wildlife.

After lunch depart on your first game drive. Other activities include, walking safaris and boating trips as well as fishing. Night drives provide the added excitement of the nocturnal wonders of the area. For those interested in birding, Kafue National Park boasts 491 species of birds. Overnight - Lunga River Lodge (all meals & activities)

DAY 4 - KAFUE NATIONAL PARK
Enjoy another day of wildlife activities in this remote wilderness. Overnight - Lunga River Lodge (all meals & activities)

DAY 5 - KAFUE NATIONAL PARK / LIVINGSTONE ZAMBIA
This morning after breakfast you will be taken by helicopter to the airstrip where you will then board your light aircraft flight back to Livingstone or Lusaka. When you arrive you will be met assisted on your outbound flight.
